2nd Annual Fresh Air Friday Event

San Antonio, TX. – Ozone Season 2007 was San Antonio’s last chance to meet federal air quality standards under the region’s Clean Air Plan, which was implemented in 2005.  Because of voluntary and proactive partnerships and programs, the San Antonio region met the challenge and has recently been designated as "attainment" under the federal clean air standards.

To highlight this achievement and to discuss local clean air initiatives to meet the challenge under the recent U.S. EPA revision of the federal ozone standard, the Alamo Area Council of Governments and the City of San Antonio will host the second annual Fresh Air Friday event.  Fresh Air Friday corresponds to the beginning of the 2008 Ozone Season and is scheduled for March 28, 2008, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Travis Park.  The public is encouraged to participate in the Fresh Air Friday activities and find out what they can do to improve our air.

Local officials will speak about regional air quality issues and programs in place to help regional citizens promote air quality improvements.  Discussion will also include the recent revision of the federal ozone standard announced on March 12.  These local leaders will inform attendees and the media on what this new standard means to the San Antonio region and how we can work together to meet this new standard.

Other attractions at Fresh Air Friday will include:

• CPS Energy tree giveaway
• Live entertainment provided by the Chuck Kerr Jazz Quartet
