What: ‘Pathways to the Future’ showcase

Where: Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland at S. St. Mary’s St.
More: Everything from food to fashion will be featured when SAISD Career and
Technology students Districtwide demonstrate what they have learned this year to prepare for their future professions. Highlights of the 16 different career presentations will be:
â— Iron Chef ‘Taste of Italy’ cooking competition. Aspiring Emeril Lagasses will vie to determine who can best tantalize the judges’ taste buds in the categories of deli salad, Italian wedding soup, Italian deli sandwich, and no-bake Italian dessert. The chefs from six high schools will have 30 minutes to complete their meals, and all except the soup will include a secret ingredient.
â— Fashion show. On the catwalk will be models wearing the latest couture created by Jefferson High School design students.
â— Software and network workshop. Technology students from Highlands High School will provide tips on troubleshooting common problems, loading software and on finding links to helpful technical Web sites.
â— Mini-health awareness sessions. Participants may have their blood pressure checked and learn how to detect early signs of hypertension and other preventative measures in this exhibit geared toward teens.
â— Farmer’s market. For sale will be fresh produce grown by members of Burbank High School’s Future Farmers of America.
