City department receives national award for 11th consecutive year
For the 11th consecutive year, the City’s Purchasing and General Services Department received the National Purchasing Institute’s Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, which recognizes organizational excellence in public procurement.
Organizations receiving the prestigious award demonstrate excellence in innovation, professionalism, productivity, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
“This award is a great way to keep us focused and motivated,” said Janie Cantu, director of the Purchasing and General Services Department. “It is our 11th year to receive the award and it demonstrates our Procurement staff’s commitment to professionalism. I am very proud of the entire staff,” she added.
The City’s Purchasing and General Services Department’s Procurement division purchases materials, supplies and services needed to support and reach organizational goals at the best value for all internal departments within the City of San Antonio.
