City of SA & French Government introduce new Consul of France in SA

The French Government has officially nominated San Antonio businessman James Lifshutz to become the next Honorary Consul of France in San Antonio. As Honorary Consul, Mr. Lifshutz is tasked with assisting and protecting French citizens in South Central Texas and facilitating trade and friendship between France and San Antonio.

France is the second largest economy in the European Union, the sixth largest in the world, and one of Texas’ strongest trade and investment partners. In 2006, France was the third largest source of Foreign Direct Investment in Texas, investing more than $10 billion and employing more than 35,000 people.

The City and the Consulate General of France will host a nomination ceremony on Wednesday April 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Southwest School of Arts and Craft’s Elizabeth Huth Coates Chapel. Mayor Phil Hardberger will be present to officiate the ceremony, along with French Consul General Pierre Grandjouan of Houston.
