Clamp proposes choice of candidates to fill seat on the SAWS Board
Due to the importance of the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) Board of Trustees, Councilman John Clamp is proactively providing candidates to fill the seat representing the city’s northeast quadrant.
This board is vested with the complete management, control and operation of the Water System and shall control the expenditure and application of the revenues of the system. The board also has the authority to determine the rates, fees and charges of the Water System.
Because of the significant role of the board; Councilman Clamp is putting forth the following two names for council consideration to fill the seat representing the city’s Northeast Side. The candidates are:
1. David Carpenter, Former City Councilman District 10
2. Joe Carlton Soules, Jr.
“It is important that the council place an individual on the board that will understand the complexities of the water system, but not forget that they are there to represent the ratepayer as well. These appointees need to balance the best interest of both the water system and the ratepayer,” said Councilman Clamp.
The appointment process for the SAWS Board of Trustees will be very important this year because four seats, including the Mayor’s seat, are set to expire on May 31. The other three seats set to expire are held by Salvadore Hernandez, Robert Leonhard and Michael Lackey.
